Republic Day Downer and Sharks

Well, after seeing Venice we successfully bought a rail ticket and boarded the train for Milan.  3 hours later, we arrived and with the unfortunate luck of Venice hostel finding….we chose to take a taxi to a hotel.  It was still pretty ghetto, and of course no one can understand us, and vise versa, but we got there.  Our own shower!! A TV, even though everything is in Italian!!  Then we looked around a bit and found a bus stop, found out that you buy tickets at newspaper stands, and went down to the Golden Quad…..or the high-end shopping in Milan.  We walked past the Versace studio, Prada, Gucci, Armani, and Chanel…only thing was that everything was closed.  I thought it was due to their siesta in the afternoon, but here it turned out it was a holiday.  Just our luck, super shopper Jenny was VERY bummed.  Oh well, we tried.

Today we once again (I really do not know how we figured it out since everything is foreign) bought a ticket and headed to Genova.  Our plan is to stay here, on the Riviera and take a day trip tomorrow to Cinque Terre, which is supposed to be very pretty.  Evidentally you walk between the five towns that make up the area, and the views are awesome.  Since the only big thing in Genova is an aquarium, we hit it up.  I felt like I was in the US at a state fair with all the screaming kids and vendors!  I am having a bit of a time eating here since everything is pizza, sandwiches, or pastries–and I am serious, EVERYTHING is.  Supermarkets are hard to find as well.  Hope the Tuscany area can fill me up with cheese and wine!

My back will forever hurt from this backpack.  ;(  Deni, you would not like it here because they fail to put any ice whatsoever in their fountain pop!
