Walky McWalkerton
We actually got up in good style this morning to make up for yesterday. Jenny really wanted to get some serious shopping done, so first we hopped on the subway and then bus to get us to Buckingham Palace. There, we were lucky enough to view the Changing of the Guards. Pretty cool, I got some good video footage of it. There was a huge crowd and a woman pushed my arm down on purpose so she could see. I gave her a glare and put my arm up again. I was in no mood to let some short woman challenge my morning. After that we walked to Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and the Houses of Parliment. (That might be spelled wrong). The architecture of these old buildings is amazing. I didn’t know that Big Ben is not the actual clock structure, but rather the bell housed inside. Mighty interesting. We also saw the outside of Madonna’s, Sean Connery’s, and Elton John’s homes.
From then on we shopped, well to tell the truth all I got was a coffee mug and some postcards, but Jenny purchased some goods. Oxford Street is a 3-mile long shopping district. We walked it and then stopped at a little cafe for late lunch. The quaint little places are my favorites. Tonight we are going to repack for the next, rather large part of our trip….Italy
I have a feeling it is going to be crazy insane getting around over there. Hope everything goes alright! I’m excited actually to leave this existing hostel because the whole place is open to smoking and it is really starting to burn the eyes and smell the clothes. Yuck. Tomorrow morning I have a plan mapped out to TRY and get to a castle. Hopefully we’ll have time and/or won’t get lost! Next time I write, I should be in Venice. Cheers.
